As I have talked about before I love stickers. Since my last post I heard amongst colleagues a suggestion that stickers on tech folks’ laptops are a bit like prison tattoos. That amused me enough I wanted to share.
Besides my phone, a couple of old tablets, and an old MacBook Air I will be writing about shortly these are my current laptop (Apple M1 MacBook Pro), the original Chromebook I posted about nearly seven years ago, and a newer one since Chromebooks only get updates for a certain period. The others don’t have stickers.
I was more careful placing the stickers the more of them I put on the devices. The shell from my old work laptop that’s on my laptop now has the most stickers and is by far the most organized. There’s still a couple of might of put on differently if I had all of the stickers up front, but I like it. I did have to cut my Feature Store sticker and stick the parts stacked instead of linearly as it was originally, but I really wanted to make it fit.
I got a refurbished M1, because I had been using an M1 at work for about three years and got used to it. My main desktop is the same as from before a Windows 10 machine with a lot of 128GB RAM and 2x GTX 1070 GPUs NvLinked. Now that the EOL for Windows 10 is coming up later this year I’ll have to decide what happens with that desktop do I just airgap it and keep it as is, get a new system and keep this one going as a Linux box, or something else. Guess we’ll see over the next six months or so.
Now if only I’d do as much interior decorating at my house as I do with the stickers for my laptops…
